With the prospect of the upcoming General Election

With the prospect of the upcoming General Elections, the JLP and the PNP have the motivation to intentionally commit to emancipating our Nation from corruption and crime? Will they take the necessary steps to indicate that our nation has leadership with the capacity for self -determination and self-governance to root out the acceptable culture of corruption and crime that undermines integrity, self-respect, and a just social order? Will civil society and every Jamaican insist that our politicians make this a mandate with concrete steps?

Another event in scripture support the Church’s interpretation of Mary’s true condition. In Luke’s account of Mary’s Visitation with Elizabeth (1:4-43), Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary speaks volumes. The scripture reads: “Now it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, 'Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord?... Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.'” Prompted by the Spirit, Elizabeth calls Mary, before the birth of Jesus, “the mother of my Lord.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#495) explains that Jesus who was Mary’s Son according to the flesh, was none other than the Father’s eternal Son, the second Person of the Holy Trinity. Hence, the Church confesses that Mary is truly “Theotokos,” “Mother of God.”

MARY: KAIRE, KECHARITOMENE - HAIL, FULL OF GRACE
Mary was chosen by God as His most perfect creation for Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to come into the world. In Lk 1:26-30, the Angel Gabriel, God’s messenger, spoke extraordinary words to Mary: “Hail, full of grace”, in Greek, “Kaire, kecharitomene”. The Angel does not call her by her earthly name, Miryam, Mary, but “Kecharitomene”, “Full of Grace” as if this were her real name. “Full of Grace” indicated that Mary was the object of God’s grace and was chosen from a long time in the past, as prophesied in Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Thus, God, to fulfill this prophesy, bestowed bountiful supernatural blessings on the virgin chosen to be the Mother of Immanuel, God with us. Mary is that virgin and that Mother.
