While it is true that “the Church would feel guilty before the Lord if she did not utilize these powerful means that human skill is daily rendering more perfect” (PAUL Vl, Evangelii Nuntiandi, n. 45), it is equally a challenge placed before the Church, that “It is not enough to use the media simply to spread the Christian message and the Church’s authentic teaching. It is also necessary to integrate that message into the ‘new culture’ created by modern communications… with new languages, new techniques and a new psychology” (JOHN PAUL II, Redemptoris Missio, no. 37).
Catholic Opinion is the Archdiocesan response to the call to ‘utilize the available means of social communication for catechesis, evangelization, information and education, guidance and inspiration in the behaviour of individuals, families and society at large’ (JOHN PAUL II, Redemptoris Missio, no. 37).
